During the growth process Tensens have had to move three times to bigger and better locations. A passion and thirst for knowledge of the industry has been partly created through regular travel to Europe and the USA by visiting ISSA shows and factories. The Nucleus of the Tensen family Marcia, Ben and Hans have always come back with smart ideas and there is nothing better than a “fresh mind” blowing through your business from time to time.

Hans Tensen who is now 60 years old, with an engineering background, ex Royal Dutch Marines, and a slightly dangerous hobby of mountain bike racing to keep fit, is the founder of the company. “You got to keep up with the young people”. He started 28 years ago as a cleaning contractor in Melbourne and after 11 years had a stint as part owner of Polivac International. During that period he developed a passion for “no frills” but reliable cleaning machinery, with Quality being extremely important.

This passion still prevails at Tensens today, with Tensens being Queensland largest distributor of Nilfisk-Advance and Numatic Brand names, “equipment has always been in our blood, If the clients are happy, Tensens is happy”. Quite often businesses are not a science but an art, because it is all about the people. This belief is what “ keeps us clicking over” and there is no greater satisfaction than seeing clients successful in their business and having the feeling that Tensens played a small role in that. “This has created many solid relationships over time”.

To support the technical side of their business Tensens has recently made a significant investment in a large well equipped 250m square workshop in Kunda Park. In order to fit, service and develop cleaning machinery. Fabrication of hose reels, truck mounts, trolleys and racking. It has a modern welding bay, diagnostic tooling and HD lifting equipment, enough to keep any cleaner out of trouble. 

The consumable side of the business is fully covered by anything from a toilet brush to chemical dispensing systems, with quality brands and names like Baywest and Gojo Washroom Systems, True Blue, Research, Britette, Oates, Pulex and Unger. The 120m square showroom is well stocked and air conditioned.
